3D Coordinate measuring technology

he SGS Automotive Testhouse carries out non-contact absolute measurements. In addition to the procedures accredited according to DIN EN ISO 17025, significantly more precise measurements of smaller and finer structures are possible via the GOM measuring cell using robots in order to determine surface defects and deformations caused by weathering or mechanical loads with minimal measurement uncertainty (from 30 µm) on all components.

The procedure is accredited according to DIN EN ISO 17025. In addition to the automated GOM measuring cell, an air-conditioned measuring room is available for reproducible measurements and low measurement uncertainties. The components are also optimally fixed with the Witte clamping system.

Our services for the optical measurement of components

  • High-resolution, two-dimensional representation of the entire component geometry
  • Precise detection of small and fine surface structures
  • Measurement of flexible components such as PU foam or textile materials
  • Objective assessment of surface defects such as airbag sink marks, dents, dings, tool marks, wear and tear
  • Assessment of trim and break-outs of sheet metals
  • Determination of deformation of components due to weathering, temperature or mechanical stress (environmental simulations and mechanical testing in-house possible)
  • Determination of dimensions, as well as form and position tolerances according to DIN/ ISO and ASME
  • Series measurements incl. process and machine capability analysis (ANOVA) for initial sampling, quality inspection, conformity analysis, determination of manufacturing tolerances
  • Virtual assembly for optimisation of moulds/injection moulds or determination of gap dimensions and flushness e.g. glove compartment

There are various possibilities for the evaluation:

  • False colour representation, pass/fail representation
  • Sections through the component
  • Material thickness / draft
  • Comparison with CAD data
