Diesel and fuel analysis

Incorrect or substandard fuel is often the reason why a vehicle has broken down. Blocked injectors, defective fuel pumps or poor performance may indicate that the fuel does not meet the required quality specifications.

We support our customers in choosing the right fuel to avoid failures.

In damage investigation, our main focus is on identifying fuel quality problems and fuel system faults. We are also happy to help with warranty issues.

We are your experts in the analysis of diesel and fuels

Performance overview: Marine fuels

Lubricant analysis

  • Verification of the correct viscosity grade
  • Extending oil service life - reducing lubricant and waste costs
  • Condition monitoring of machines and technical consultations help you improve the quality of your maintenance and repair decisions
  • Independent analysis in case of warranty claims with determination of the cause of damage
  • SGS analyses exceed standard classifications for alternative test specifications

Bunker fuels

  • Results within 24 h for testing bunker fuel samples to minimize port layover time
  • Technical advice on fuels that do not meet standards
  • Elimination of Cat Fines

Oily aqueous systems

  • Gives you added confidence in proving that each vessel's service water meets local and international guidelines.

Cooling system

  • To ensure your engine's corrosion protection and coolant's service properties are working properly.

Performance overview: Diesel fuels & AdBlue®*

We perform comprehensive analyses on (bio)diesel in accordance with the following minimum requirements:

  • DIN EN 14124 - Biodiesel
  • DIN EN 590 - Diesel fuel

Quality control is necessary for AdBlue®, because contamination can damage the exhaust aftertreatment system, which could lead to illegal NOx emissions.

We therefore test whether AdBlue® meets the requirements of ISO 22241-2 and DIN V70070.

Test scope ASTM D5185:

  • Contamination (mg/kg)
  • Corrosion (mg/kg)
  • External appearance

*"AdBlue ®" is a designation protected under trademark law for the Verband der Automobilindustrie e.V. (German Association of the Automotive Industry).

Relevant parameters

  • Cetane Index
  • Filterability limit or Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP)
  • Cloud point and pour point
  • Copper corrosion
  • Flash point
  • Sulfur content
  • Viscosity
  • Water content

Standards and regulations

Our program tests all types of fuel systems including diesel, biofuel and marine fuels such as MGO and HFO to the following fuel standards:
