Materials laboratory for metallic components

In our accredited laboratory we offer comprehensive solutions for quality assurance and failure analysis of metallic components. Taking into account the manufacture, design and stress of the metal, we can advise you on the right scope of analysis for your issue.

In our tests, we can take into account factors such as corrosion resistance, environmental influences, material characteristics, surface properties and OEM specifications.

Corrosion testing

  • constant salt spray test (NSS, CASS, AASS and other solutions)
  • corrosion change test
  • filiform test

environmental simulation

  • temperature resistance test from -70°C to +250°C
  • Climate resistance test
  • from -70°C to +180°C and from 10% to 99% relative humidity,
  • with ramps up to 5K per minute
  • Thermal shock test
  • Sun simulation test from 1m³ to 14 m³ chamber volume
  • if necessary incl. test box
  • if necessary incl. sample chamber

Metallography

As a central component in materials testing, metallographic examinations comprise the characterization and the qualitative as well as quantitative description of the microstructure of metallic materials using microscopic techniques. Metallographic testing is used in particular for failure and damage analysis, but also routinely for quality assurance.

  • metallographic preparation and microstructure evaluation
  • hardness testing (Vickers and Rockwell hardness
  • inclusions, precipitations, pore analysis, microporosity
  • characterization of welded joints
  • characterization of fracture surfaces
  • Characterization / thickness of coatings

Testing of complete OEM specifications

  • Mercedes Benz (e.g. DBL 7381, DBL 8465, DBL 9441,...)
  • Volkswagen / Audi (e.g. TL 182, Tl 874, TL 212...)
  • BMW (e.g. GS 90011,..)
  • Ford, GM, Honda, Nissan, Renault, Suzuki , Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo

Surface resistance testing

  • Chemical resistance testing
  • Determination of the soiling or cleaning behavior
  • Abrasion, scratch and friction tests (Abrex, Taber, Crockmeter)
  • Cross and cross-cut testing
  • Stone chip test
  • Steam or pressurized water jet test
  • Washing line test
